Exp.3 Final Video Clip

Exp.3 Final Images

The Two Headquarters
The two headquarters themselves function as bridges across the valley. They elongate from mountains to mountains as if they are part of the chain. The power concept for Coca Cola is understood by popularity of its product. A Coke gives off an idea of the feeling of refreshment, thirst busting and sparkling soda that if you drink them you can feel the fizzy taste of a soft drink. The power concept for Facebook is a strength of a social media service. Facebook connects a billion of people. Conflation of Culture, personality and relationship within people inspire me a lava flow which you cannot really stop when there is an eruption because it is unstoppable.

Coca Cola
This building is rather sticking on the mountains than providing a link from here to there although it has a notion of a bridge. The headquarter seems it has spread out on the mountain like a spilt-coke on a carpet. Many straight lines are used in order to visualize the sparkle.

Facebook
The headquarter has a shape of lava flow that seems like the mountains had an eruption and the lava flow has been hardened by the coldness of the environment. It is practically linking both ends of the headquarter whilst the building straddles on it.

Elevators
In order to keep a sense of kinship to their headquarters, Facebook's elevator is round and Coca Cola's elevator is angulated. Each elevator shafts have corresponding shapes as well.

The Table
It is round on the grith and there are straight lines running through the table. A mixed concept of both companies.

The Table
There is a stream between the headquarters and this is a bridge that connects. The table is on the bridge which is translucent. It is a strong bridge but it looks fragile. The meeting point adjures the cleanness and of their purpose of the meeting and portrays the balance of the power so that one company cannot control over or take advantage of the other. This is for a fair partnership that helps and develops each other for the best and share ideas that will not only just making profits but also greatly serve society.

MashUp

Kent, who has been on the job since 2008, has delivered for Facebook that boosts IPO size by 25 percent, could top $16 billion. While Pepsi's have barely budged, it was an early sign that Take-Two was moving beyond its one-hit-wonder status, in which it wants Coca-Cola's 146,000 employees to think like they are "owners." The difference between the two companies will increase the size of its initial public offering by 25 percent.

CEOs often say such things, but Kent clearly means it. That's one of the reasons why Coca-Cola has been raising as much as $16 billion as strong investor demand for a share of the No.1 social network trumps debate about the company's long-term potential to make money. Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games, the developer of “BioShock,’’ said the social networking company is drumming up massive demand for the offering.  When I ask him how much cash he has on hand he will be the third installment in the popular series.

Facebook raised the target price range to $34-$38 per share in response to strong demand, from Kent's smarter ideas was 2010's $12.3 billion acquisition of the North American  bottling operations of Coca-Cola Enterprises, according to a Tuesday filing.

Sandbox Image & Seoraksan, South Korea comparison

Seoraksan is the 3rd highest mountain in South Korea and it is located in the east side.
The top peak reaches 1,708 metres and its mountain chain is known as the backbone of the Korean peninsula.

I have been to this mountain with my family when I was a kid, a little after autumn. From what I remember it was really rocky and I barely saw soil. Trees were planted at the foot of the mountain. I could also see clouds moving 20 metres ahead of me.

Meeting place and Griffin's monument

Night view of the two. If you see closely there is a pool on top of the monument and spa right next to it where people can enjoy and relax with a spectacular view with the river and an widely open feel with everastingly high moutain behind.

Ando's monument sitting at the back and the path that leads to a deeper mountains follows at the rear of the monument. You can also clearly see the entrance to Griffin's monument.

Another night view of Griffin's. Light on the ceiling glows like the moon.

Ando's monument. The monument satisfactorily recieves signals from satellites.

There is a distinctive sight of the pool and the spa. Griffin's monument appropriately angled to the river.

Draft landscape theme and concepts

Landscape Theme
Mountain River

There is a small path that leads to a deeper mountain
Ando's monument will be located there.
Ando's concept has something got to do with space and volume so I thought placing ando's monument at the begining of the path would give a sense of unfound volume and space.

Whereas, Griffin's monument will be placed at outer space that is going to face the river. Mountain at the back will create an efficient feeling of relaxation and bring peace in mind and an widely open feel toward the river will generate a feeling of an active movement at the sight of lively fluid river.

Space between two monuments will be located somewhere in the mountain. Surrounded by green will keep architectural computing students, engineering students and architectural studies students fresh and inspired.

Two concpets

Walter Burley Griffin

1. They have recreational areas which encourages social interaction relating to things people do in their spare time to relax:

There are many flat areas on the monument, especially on the top which is going to give an open feel that makes people relax and breathing place which also have some recreactional purposes. Also, in the middle and the bottom it has a semi open view so it will give more calm atmosphere.

 Tadao Ando

2. The rectangular geometrical properties of the facade give a sense of volume and space:

Tadao Ando really loves rectangular shape which you find in many of his work. Particularly found many on facades. So I figured what if I create 2 layers of facade in front of the monument that will deploy a sense of volume and space; there are 3 gaps on the facades so that people can presume that there more space behind and there is a tall piece of architecture which gives as much a sense of volume as the height.
